Is it possible to have a fire in the fire pit during the summer months?The fire danger season runs from 1st December to 30th April, and during this time, we ask that guests exercise extreme caution when using the fire pit. On total fire ban days, the fire pit must not be used under any circumstances. We closely monitor local fire conditions and will promptly notify guests if a total fire ban is declared. Campfires other than in the designated fire pit and prohibited.

What are the fire danger season and restrictions?The period of heightened fire risk usually extends from November through April, although these dates are subject to change. For precise information on fire danger seasons, we recommend visiting the Country Fire Service (CFS) website at www.cfs.sa.gov.au. During days declared as Total Fire Bans, we ask that you exercise caution and use the Weber Q at a safe distance from any combustible materials. To stay updated on bushfire alerts, you can consult the CFS website, call their information hotline at 1800 362 361, follow SA Country Fire Service and CFSUpdates on Facebook, tune into local radio broadcasts, or download the AlertSA app for notifications

What is the policy for refunds at Sol Hus?You must provide at least thirty (30) days written notice by way of email to us before your arrival if you wish to cancel or change your booking dates. Subject to us receiving written notice above, and in the event of a cancellation, we will provide you with a refund in the sum of your booking fee less 5%, of which amount will be retained by us as an administrative cancellation fee. Rebooking: Should you provide less than thirty (30) days written notice of a booking cancellation, we may offer you an alternative booking date or credit note at our sole discretion. While we will do our best to find an alternative booking date, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to change your booking to your next preferred date and time. Gift Vouchers: Alternatively, we can issue a gift voucher for the value of your booking. These vouchers are perfect for future stays at Sol Hus, either for yourself or as a gift to someone special. The vouchers are valid for a specified period, giving you or the recipient ample time to plan a visit. For either option, please contact us at your earliest convenience to make the necessary arrangements. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur, and our aim is to provide flexibility and peace of mind with our booking options.

How much notice is required to rebook my stay?At Sol Hus, due to the isolated nature of our location and the typical advance planning our guests undertake, we require a notice period of 30 days for any rebooking requests. If you need to change your booking and it's less than 30 days from your scheduled arrival, we regrettably cannot guarantee the option to swap dates or issue credit notes. The feasibility of accommodating late rebooking requests is at our discretion and will depend on factors like the time of year and the likelihood of rebooking the dates.

What are the check-in and check-out times?You can check in from 3pm, and check-out is by 11am.

How do I check in?Instructions for check-in will be emailed to you 48 hours prior to your arrival.

What is the process for checking out?There's no need to worry about any end-of-stay cleaning. When you’re ready to leave, please: -Close and lock all windows and doors to keep everything secure. -Double-check for any personal items so you don’t leave anything behind. -Return the key to the lockbox. -Let us know if anything got damaged during your stay.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?A refundable deposit of $300 is required to cover any incidental costs, such as property damage or extra cleaning. This will be pre-authorised on your credit card 1 day prior to check-in and released within 7 days of your departure.

What does my booking include?Bed linen is provided for two guests. If you require additional bedding and bathroom linen for extra guests, please indicate this when booking. The kitchenette is stocked with a selection of teas, coffee pods, sugar, oil, salt/pepper, and tea towels. You'll also find a Weber BBQ and BBQ utensils. Fire pits are available throughout the year, except during fire ban days. Fire lighters and matches are provided, and firewood for the fire pit is available free of charge – we ask that you do not collect wood from the property.

Should I add extra guests to my booking?The standard rate covers 2 guests. Additional guests are charged at $40 per person, per night, and should be added at the time of booking to ensure proper arrangements for extra bedding and bathroom linen.

Can friends and family visit or camp on-site?Friends and family are welcome to visit, but only paying guests are allowed to stay overnight. Visitors must vacate the premises by 22:00, and we strictly prohibit camping on-site.

Is Sol Hus dog-friendly?To protect wildlife dogs are not permitted.

What should I bring to enhance my stay?Consider bringing comfortable outdoor clothing, reef-safe sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, personal snorkeling or diving gear, beach towels and swimwear, binoculars, a camera or smartphone, hiking shoes, a good book, a portable charger, stargazing apps or maps, light rain gear and a flashlight or headlamp.

Will I have Wi-Fi and phone service?Wi-Fi is available. Mobile phone service can be variable, but we're only a 15-minute drive from the main township of Kingscote.
